Dr. Fleming received his BS degree in Dairy Science from Clemson University in l973, his Master's degree in Endocrinology/Biochemistry from the University of Florida in l977, and his DVM from the University of Florida in l981. After graduation Dr. Fleming served as a base veterinarian for the USAF at K.I. Sawyer AFB in Michigan's Upper Peninsula where he learned to love snow and cold weather. In l984 Dr. Fleming joined general practice in Palos Heights, Illinois. In l989 he started his own practice and is assisted by his college sweetheart, the former Ms. Connie Kress of Hickory Hills. Dr. Fleming is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Chicago Veterinary Medical Association, the American Veterinary Medical Association, Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association and the American Academy of Veterinary Dermatology. Dr. Fleming is also a founding member of the American College of Country Vets. Off hours he enjoys reading, walking his dogs, gardening and feeding squirrels.
In October 2011, Dr. Lauren Ranta Tassone joined our practice. Dr. Tassone completed her undergraduate studies and veterinary medical school at the University of Illinois in 2009. She is enjoying her career as a vet because she truly cares about people and helping their sick pets. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, cooking, listening to music and reading. She and her husband Erik have two dogs, two cats and two box turtles, their own small zoo! Dr.Tassone is a skilled surgeon and is pursuing her interest in veterinary dentistry.
Dr. Frank Norton received his DVM degree from the University of Tennessee, his Master's degree from Purdue University and is Board Certified in Internal Medicine by the American College of Veterinary internal Medicine. Dr. Norton is well-known by other veterinarians in the Chicagoland area as an expert in internal medicine. We are very fortunate to have him on staff - we all get a continual education by him! Dr. Norton also is an avid photographer and has won many awards for his photos.
Dr. Riffice received her BS degree in Animal Science at the University of Illinois and a Master's degree in Business Administration from Governors State University. Dr. Riffice received her DVM degree from Iowa State College of Veterinary Medicine in 2012. Dr. Riffice will be completing her certification in acupuncture for small animals and horses in June 2019 and will be able to offer this treatment for her patients. Her childhood dream was to become a veterinarian. She worked as a veterinary assistant for 5 years, and as a veterinarian for almost 7 years prior to joining Prairie State Veterinary Clinic. Dr. Riffice loves doing surgeries and dentistry. The best part of her job is helping animals and building long lasting relationships with not only pets but with their owners. Dr. Riffice is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Chicago Veterinary Medical Association. She grew up in Orland Park, Illinois and now resides close by with her husband Tony and her son Alexander. They have 2 dogs, 2 cats, and 2 horses. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and pets, riding horses, and competing in pageants. A fun fact is that she was Mrs. Orland Park in 2017.
