I am still undecided about the value of pet health insurance. If your pet sustains an accident, or tears an ACL and needs an expensive surgical repair, or if your pet needs cancer treatment, then these policies are very valuable. On the other hand, we have seen many owners submit claims for medical costs and the insurance companies deny their claims saying that "such and such" disease is a "recognized" disease in that particular breed and therefore deny the claim. If you find a policy that you are interested in, call the company and ask them to send you a list of conditions which they do not cover for your particular breed. I will be glad to go voer that list with you and give you my advice. If they wont give you their "secret list" then steer clear. Note: In late 2009 Purina Company came out with what looks like a good insurance program. You can pick up some information at our office or call them directly for more information.
