Dr. Fleming received his BS degree in Dairy Science from Clemson University in l973, his Master’s degree in Endocrinology and Biochemistry from the University of Florida in l977, and his DVM from the University of Florida in l981. After graduation Dr. Fleming served as a base veterinarian for the USAF at K.I. Sawyer AFB in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula where he learned to love snow and cold weather. In l984 Dr. Fleming joined general practice in Palos Heights, Illinois. In l989 he started his own practice and is assisted by his college sweetheart, the former Ms. Connie Kress of Hickory Hills. In l995 Dr. Fleming became a Fellow of the American College of Country Vets (FACCV).
In February 2009 Dr. Sara Schultz joined the staff at Prairie State. Dr. Schultz is a local gal, having grown up in Oak Lawn. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from East Carolina University and subsequently graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 2007. She lives with her husband Dan, a US Marine Corp veteran and who is now a history teacher, in Mokena. Besides dogs and cats Dr. Schultz enjoys working with the little critters like guinea pigs, chinchillas, reptiles, small birds and various other rodents! It is a real pleasure having her here with us now!
Drs. Fleming and Schultz are assisted in the practice by Dawn, Liz, Tracy, Cathy, Paula, Krystle, Katie, Jose and Lauren and Theresa. Lauren and T have actually dumped us for vet school and come back occasionally to hang out when they have time off from their studies at U of I. (Update as of Jan. 15th, 2009---> Dr. Lauren Tassone passed her boards!! Congratulations!!!)
